The Holy Spirit empowers the Household Body. Saint Paul wrote in Ephesians 3.20-21, "Now to him, (the Holy Spirit) who can do immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine, according to the power that is at work within us, to Him be the glory." The force of God not only works alongside us but dwells powerfully within us like blood circulating in the human body. Blood and breath are symbols of the Holy Spirit's work in the Christian, encouraging us to encounter and experience Jesus. ✞
In 1615, the English physician William Harvey (1578-1657) explained in his book "An Anatomical Disquisition on the Motion of the Heart and Blood in Animals" the fantastic human blood circulation system. His discovery reflected the ancient Biblical truth from Leviticus 17.11, "The life of the creature is in the blood." He also developed and clarified the Greek physician Aelius Galen (129-c210 AD) of Pergamon's treaties and the Arab physician Ibn al-Nafis's (1213-1288 AD) book on pulmonary circulation in c1242 AD in Cairo, Egypt. The circulatory system permits blood to circulate and transport nutrients, oxygen, carbon dioxide, hormones, and blood cells to provide nourishment and help fight diseases and stabilize temperature. ✞
Every organ, gland, and tissue in the human body depends for its life on the bloodstream's condition. Blood is a fluid consisting of plasma, red and white blood cells, and platelets that circulate from the heart carrying oxygen and nutrients to and waste materials away from all body tissues. Though blood is not normally visible through the skin and fat layers, we cannot live without it. Oxygen is not visible in the bloodstream, which carries it, but the brain is starved and soon dies without oxygen. Blood is essential for the human body as the Holy Spirit is vital for the Christian Body. ✞
The Holy Spirit is part of the mystical body of Christ and permeates every healthy part of the body to give her life. The Holy Spirit of Christ is the invisible partner in the Holy Trinity, for he works transparently in all life, cementing relationships in the Household Body. The Holy Spirit never elevates himself but always seeks to bring praise to Jesus. The Book of Hebrews records in Hebrews 13.15, "Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise — the fruit of lips that openly profess his name." Isaiah 43.21 explains that God creates people to praise him, "These people have I formed for myself; they shall show forth my praise." ✞
When the Holy Spirit of Christ cannot operate in a church, it becomes like a leg or arm that has become gangrenous because a blood clot blocks an artery, and the blood circulation fails. Without fresh blood, an arm or leg turns putrid and threatens the other healthy parts of the body. When Christian people cease loving one another, and when a church becomes a purely secular society rather than a spiritual entity, and when a church wanders away from the teachings of Scripture, then decomposition begins to set in. On the other hand, the Holy Spirit matures and develops the Household Body. Being "in Christ" means having the marks of the Son of God like unity, love, and purpose, and by this, God reassures us that we are his children. ✞
Holy Spirit circulation and regeneration renew every cell in the Body of Christ according to the body's needs. The three Trinity members coexist in the Household Body. Christ leads and directs very visibly as the head. The Holy Spirit invisibly energizes and regenerates every cell of the Mystical Body in the death and life cycle. He lovingly blossoms lives by his presence and rejuvenates members of Christ's Body. Like human skin, the body is constantly dying on the outside and renewed underneath. The Creator Father permeates every aspect of the Mystical Body's work. ✞
Titus 3.4-7 reminds us, "But when the kindness and love of God, our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life." The Holy Spirit's body within whispers to us that another person we meet belongs to the Household Body. Saint Paul wrote in Romans 8.16, "The Spirit himself testified with our spirit that we are God's children." We are warmed immediately on meeting some Christians, but other people leave us cold. Holy Spirit regeneration within that person makes the difference. ✞
