The Bible, in a modern version, is the greatest of resources. I prefer the New International Version, which is probably the most accurate. I would suggest that the group read a chapter a week beginning in the New Testament with John's Gospel. Readings from Matthew, Mark (the shortest), or Luke can follow John's Gospel. The latter has the added advantage of being followed naturally by the Acts of the Apostles, which is the story of the Apostles and the Early Church. Don't forget Saint Paul's letters and then Psalms and Proverbs. Saint Paul writes to Timothy in 2 Timothy 3.16-17 "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." All Christians need to be thoroughly equipped. The Bible is the best resource. Add to that a good commentary like the NIV Study Bible or Barclay's Daily Study Bible, and you are well on your way. A Concordance at the back of a Bible or Study Bible can be most useful in finding a verse or topic in a discussion. ✞
